As cerimônias institucionais e a (re)significação da internação no Leprosário de Marituba no Pará (1940-1970)

O artigo tem como objetivo analisar as cerimônias institucionais do Leprosário de Marituba-PA, no período 1940 a 1970, como processo de educação dos sentidos e sensibilidades do ex-interno Geraldo, uma cidade hospitalar construída em uma área de 375 hectares de mata virgem, que abrigou hospital, pavilhões, casas, cineteatro, igrejas e tantos outros espaços para internar perpetuamente centenas de vidas que foram infectadas pelo bacilo Mycobacterium leprae. Inspirado na história oral temática híbrida, unimos uma fonte oral a fontes documentais como o Álbum das organizações antileprosas (1948) e os jornais O Estado do Pará (1942) e Folha do Norte (1942). Utilizamos como referencial teórico: Bosi (1994), Foucault (2014), Goffman (1974) e Oliveira (2012). O leprosário constitui-se uma cidade da exclusão que ultrapassou a função de segregar para curar e figurou processos de uma educação construída a partir das relações de estímulos dialógicos entre internado e instituição.

The article aims to analyze the institutional ceremonies of the Leprosary of Marituba-PA, from 1940 to 1970, as a process of educating the senses and sensibilities of the former inmate Geraldo, a hospital city built in an area of 375 hectares of virgin forest, which housed a hospital, pavilions, houses, movie theatre, churches and many other spaces to perpetually hospitalize hundreds of lives that were infected by the Mycobacterium leprae bacillus. Inspired by hybrid thematic oral history, we combined an oral source with documentary sources such as the Album of anti-leprosy organizations (1948) and the newspapers O Estado do Pará (1942) and Folha do Norte (1942). We used as theoretical references: Bosi (1994), Foucault (2014), Goffman (1974) and Oliveira (2012). The leprosarium constitutes a city of exclusion that went beyond the function of segregating to cure and represented processes of an education built from the relationships of dialogical stimuli between the inmate and the institution.
